I've subtly mentioned this a bit, but you guys, I LAUNCHED A BUSINESS.
I've always been entrepreneurial minded; I hate to be bored, love to work on multiple projects at once, and am always trying to think ahead and think of ways to improve. I came up with the Idea for Shop The City in college while studying fashion merchandising. I always kept it on the back burner, afraid to start and to fail. After planning my wedding was over, and my day job had a short break in insanity, I found myself bored and again dreaming my day dream but this time I said "to hell with it" and started working.
Shop The City offers curated shopping tours/experiences in multiple cities (currently: NYC, DC, NOLA, and MIA). Each experience comes with a branded tote bag, water, champagne, a chartered bus, a stylist guide to help you shop, and of course, discounts to our partner stores. Tours stop at 'grammable spots and get you an insider look at how locals shop while offering up fun facts and anecdotes about the history of the city and the uniqueness of each boutique.
I'm two months in and business is good! Shop The City is available for weekend bookings in 5 cities (FIVE!!) and I have rounded up an amazing team of stylist guides. We've done three tours thus far. It's not great, it's not an overnight success, but it has the slightest bit of momentum. I'm keeping on keeping on and living by the thought of "it's a marathon not a sprint".
I'm grateful for the support and positive feedback I've received and for the blogging groups who have agreed to collaborate with me and Shop The City.
